IUB students write about Feburary 25th

As part of their midterm assignments I had my students write a post about what happpened on Feburary 25, 2009. These essays are a powerful testimony to the “decade zero” generation of Bangladesh- those coming of age in the early part of the twenty- first century. They are eloquently written, in the student’s second language no less. I’m proud of you. Take a look here, here, here and here.

The student blogs bring it all home , like no news professionals can- they bring up the basic questions, beyond the monetary or political dispute between the Army officers and BDR: why the bloodbath? How did things get so out of control?

As most lament, unlike 1971-great they put it in historical context for us foreigners- the tragedy is that this internecine violence is the last thing this struggling nation needs now!

  2. Which main? what cross?

It’s sad and very moving. The students forgot the theme of their blogs and have written about what they felt. It seems to have been a been very traumatic incident.

I think BD as a country will come out stronger from this incident.

    Hello Geoffrey,
I thought I would like to see where your passion in life has taken you. Thank you for your photos, they are powerful, and often beautiful as well.
